Sunday dawned bright, warm and sunny for our 40th anniversary rally and the field at Temple Newsam soon began to fill up with some superb vehicles, ably marshalled by club members Brian Damper, Dominic Chandler, Clifford Thoroughgood and Bernard Mansell.

Great registrations were in abundance and by noon there were almost 100 vehicles on display. The club operates a self voting system  at its rallies and voting cards were soon being returned to the rally control marquee for entering into the master results sheets.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Jane Dowson, attended the 40th anniversary rally and happily presented the various class awards. The Mayoral car of Leeds bears the registration U 1 and club member Gareth Hudson, son of the late Malcolm Hudson, joined us with the reverse plate 1 U.

 Thanks are due for all the assistance (you know who you are) given before, during and after the rally. Our rally marshalls speedily directed vehicles onto the rally site and made sure they were neatly displayed.

Brian and Wendy Mawson brought their excellent mini-marquee for us to use as the rally control centre, allowing retiring club Honorary Secretary, Steve Waldenberg (SIW 321) to keep everything in order.

Several prizes had been donated by our sponsor dealers and club members and our thanks are due to all who purchased tickets. By the end of the day we had raised over £170.00 to help with the expense of staging our event.

The cherished registration dealers shown on the left also helped us with sponsorship deals to cover some expenses.

Our thanks go to Pat Woodall, who unfortunately could not be present this year, for once again providing the Noel Woodall trophy in his memory. In recognition of 40 years outstanding service to the RNC, the trophy for 2017 was awarded to retiring Honorary Secretary, Steve Waldenberg.
